PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
